I-95 & I-595 Freeway Operations Studies

Through the context of several work orders, GCA conducted an operational analysis of sections of I-95 and I-595 in Broward and Palm Beach Counties, Florida. Included in the study were operational analyses of a series of interchanges, including frontage roads; analysis of a weaving section; redesign of a ramp and analysis of signing throughout the corridor.

A traffic simulation model was constructed of the study area. Levels of service were determined for the roadways within the study area for existing conditions. Alternatives were simulated and tested to determine their effect on traffic flow. Recommendations were made for improvements or changes in the freeway lane operations, a ramp was redesigned, signing and markings were reviewed for effectiveness and new signal timing plans were developed at interchanges.
